Who we are

Household Goods by Soné Groenewald is a small South African online shop. This policy explains, in plain language, what personal information we collect when you shop with us, why we need it, and what your rights are under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

What we collect

When you place an order we collect your name, email address, phone number, delivery address and the details of your order (what you bought, when, and for how much).

Why we collect it

We use this information to process and deliver your order, to take payment, and to send you emails about your order, such as your order confirmation. We do not use your information for anything else, and we do not sell it.

Who we share it with

We share only what is needed, only with the partners who help us run the shop:

PayFast, who processes your payment securely; our email provider, who delivers your order emails; our hosting and database provider, who stores the shop's data; and delivery couriers, who need your name, phone number and address to deliver your parcel.

We also use a spreadsheet tool to keep our order records.

Where your information is stored

Some of our service providers store data on servers outside South Africa, including in the European Union. We choose providers that protect your information to a standard similar to POPIA.

How long we keep it

We keep order information for as long as the law requires for tax and accounting purposes, and no longer than we need it to run the shop and look after your orders.

Your rights

You may ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you, to see it, to correct it, or to delete it (where the law allows). We respond within 30 days. You may also complain to the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za).

Marketing

We only send you news or marketing emails if you tick a separate box to say yes, and you can unsubscribe at any time. Order emails are not marketing.

Cookies

Our shop uses only the essential cookies it needs to work (for example to remember your cart). If we add analytics or advertising tools in future, we will ask for your permission first.

If something goes wrong

If your personal information is ever accessed without permission we will tell you and the Information Regulator as soon as reasonably possible.

Security

We take reasonable steps to keep your information safe. Payments are handled by PayFast and we never see or store your card details.
